Table Tennis

Table TennisTable Tennis is a hugely popular sport the world over, and its popularity is on the rise in Scottish Universities. Hugely popular in Asia and continental Europe, numbers are now increasing in Scotland, too. As a sport which has less to do with gender, age, size and strength than it does with skill, dexterity and technique, the potential for participation in the sport is huge.

SUS Table Tennis is developing the sporting offer in Universities at a fast pace, with the number of Universities taking part quickly increasing and the standard swiftly improving. Edinburgh University reached in the BUSA Championship Final in 2006.

The Scottish Universities Championship takes place each academic year, with individual winners crowned as Scottish Universities Champions. The SUS League runs from October to February, with the winners moving on to BUSA knockout competition against the best teams from other regions of the United Kingdom thereafter.

Recently, SUS Table Tennis has hosted highly successful Coaching Seminars in partnership with the Scottish Table Tennis Association. These events, targeted at the novices and intermediate players, help introduce new players to the sport and retain and improve the standard of more experienced players in the Universities' set-up. In addition, many University Clubs also take part in local or community leagues in their own regions, providing students with regular competition of a good standard.
