The Scottish Universities Sailing programme is a strong and full one, administrated by the Scottish Universities Sailing Association. SUSA is an Association of Sailing Clubs in Scottish Universities, and annually elects a Chairman to operate the programme on its behalf. Three distinct competitive styles make up the SUSA year, in the shape of Team Racing, Match Racing and Yachting.
Within the Team Racing discipline, League and Championship competitions operate. The League takes place over three weekend meetings between November and February, with the league winners being put forward as Scotland's qualifiers to the British Universities Team Racing Championships. The Championship is a one-off event, held at Easter, with the winners declared Scottish Universities Champions. Both Scottish Universities Women’s and Mixed Teams are selected, with annual Team Racing fixtures in Prague and Ireland to look forward to for the successful sailors.
The Match Racing programme is a new one to SUSA, but the newly-inaugurated event acts as the Scottish Universities Championship. The Championship takes place in October and decides the Scottish Qualifier to the BUCS MR Championship.
SUSA Yachting takes place in Largs, and comprises a winter training event with coaching and the SUSA Yachting Championships, which take place at Easter. Those successful in this discipline may be selected for the Scottish Universities Team for the World Student Yachting Championships.
Scottish Universities Sailing has a large and strong, multi-discipline programme with something to offer everyone, including representational opportunities for the most-talented.
