Scotland has real strength in the sport of Rifle Shooting, and the scene in Scottish Universities reflects this - and it plays a key role in the development in Scotland's future success in this sport. The programme includes provision for both Small Bore and Full Bore disciplines.
An Indoor Small Bore Grand Prix operates through the winter, operating on a points system, incorporating six fixtures, and finishing with a Grand Prix Final and Ball. The Outdoor Championship is contested annually in a one-off match in Aberdeen in the spring. From these events, indoor and outdoor SUS representative teams are selected and these teams compete against named teams from English and Welsh Universities, in events which run concurrently with the relevant British Universities Small Bore Indoor or Outdoor Championship Fixtures.
The Scottish Universities Full Bore Championship takes place each May, at Blair Atholl, with the winners of this fixtures declared the Scottish Universities Champions in the discipline.
In addition many Scottish Universities take part in other matches - including those in local and regional areas, as well as a number of postal fixtures and private friendly matches - all contributing to a lively and fun scene in the sport in the sector.
