SSS Professional Development: guaranteed high standards in all we do.
The SSS Professional Development Committee is charged with ensuring that the sector works together, sharing experiences, good practise and training workshops wherever possible and practical, and to ensure that the offer of SSS as a whole is as professional and fit for purpose as possible.
In its intial three years, the group has been very active - generating a comprehensive and reliable communications network for SSS, on which the future success of the organisation will be based. Large scale events for the sector have been delivered with considerable aplomb: the now annual Christmas Seminars for all involved in the sector and the summer SSS Conference. Previous Conferences have included a keynote speech from Patricia Ferguson MSP, Minister for Sport, Media and Culture in 2006 and at the University of Glasgow in 2007 which was joined by Francesca Osowska, Head of Sports Policy at the Scottish Executive and Stewart Harris, CEO of Sportscotland. In 2008 we were joined by Shirley Webb, and Gregor Townsend who were both a real asset and highlight of the Conference, with Shirley sticking her neck out for the sector in a question and answer session with key figures from the Funding Council, the Scottish Government and Commonwealth Games Committee.
The group has worked extensively on the branding and marketing of SSS in order to achieve maximum visibility - including the delivery of this website, amongst other projects. To get your own piece of SSS branded kit please have a look at our order form, decide what you want, and send it in to SSS HQ so that we can distribute your goodies.
In future, SSS PDC will oversee the training and education of student officers, volunteers and staff from across the nation in a coordinated way, provide networking opportunities and manage special interest groups to respond quickly to the needs of the sector.
