Mark Beaumont, SSS Honorary President, has offered his support to SSS 1000 Mile Challenge, raising money for Scottish Disability Sport.
Launched at the SUS Conference on the 14th June 2011, participants use cardiovascular equipment to meet a pre-defined goal of either Bronze (250 miles) Silver (500 miles) or Gold (1000 miles). For more information on the challenge please click here.
On the challenge, Mark stated "I am delighted to support the Scottish Student Sport 1000 mile challenge. With all the money raised going to disability sport, this challenge is an excellent way to get more students engaging in physical activity whilst supporting a very worthy cause".
Mark has recently left for Morocco to try and break the World Record for rowing the mid-Atlantic in a team of six, lead by Matt Craughwell. They will row in repeated shifts of two hours on, two hours off, in a bid to break the record, which stands at 33 days. They will row 3,000 miles (4,828km) from Tarfaya in Morocco to Barbados.
We wish Mark the very best of luck in his latest journey and look forward to seeing him return safely having smashed the world record.
