Judo

Judo.

There are a number of strong Judo Clubs in Scottish Universities, and this contributes to a healthy scene for the sport in Scotland. Many students take up the sport at University, and are able to make quick progress in the sport, while there are also a number of elite performers in the University sector.

A series of Scottish Universities League fixtures between Universities take place early in the academic year, as teams and individual hone their skills for the Scottish Universities Championships, which take place in the spring. In both events, fighters are broadly grouped according to their weight and grade.

Scottish students attend many national and regional events, as they aim to improve their skill in their sport and to accrue the points necessary to improve their grading.

Scottish Universities students also play a full part in the British Universities Judo Championships, with some success over the years.
